How has a material from the space industry revolutionised our chargers?

We are all familiar with those heavy, bulky chargers that take up half the space in our bags.

However, in recent years, a phenomenon has been changing everything: chargers are getting smaller, yet more powerful!

The reason can be summed up in three letters: GaN, for Gallium Nitride.

This material is anything but ordinary. Before ending up in our chargers, it was used in environments where performance was non-negotiable: satellites, radars, high-frequency systems. In other words, where every watt and every degree counts.

So, what does this mean for us in our daily lives?

It's a charger that:

- Heats up much less: which means less energy lost and greater efficiency.

- Supports higher voltages: so more power in a smaller format.

- Allows for miniaturisation of electronics: fewer components = more compact chargers.

The result: chargers that are three times smaller, capable of powering a smartphone, tablet and even a computer while remaining efficient and durable!
