At PORT, we design luggage products built to last. However, a product’s durability doesn’t depend entirely on its design: proper care can significantly extend its lifespan, whilst reducing its environmental impact.

In line with more responsible consumption, here are our simple and effective care tips to help you look after your bags, satchels and covers on a daily basis.

1. Cleaning the exterior: the right approach

To clean the exterior of your bag or satchel:

•    Use a soft cloth or a non-abrasive sponge

•    Clean with lukewarm water and, if necessary, mild soap

•    Gently rub dirty areas

•    Rinse with a damp cloth

•    Leave to air dry, away from direct sunlight and any source of heat

•    Machine washing

•    Tumble drying

•    Harsh chemicals (bleach, solvents, strong stain removers)

2. Cleaning the interior

•    Empty the bag completely

•    Vacuum or shake out any dust and debris

•    Wipe the interior with a slightly damp cloth

•    Allow to dry completely before using the bag again

•    Wipe the zips with a dry cloth to prevent dust build-up

•    Check straps, seams and handles regularly
