I. ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES AND ACTIONS

1. Sustainable and long-lasting products

For more than 10 years, PORT Europe is committed to an environmentally responsible approach to the creation and development of its products and strongly opposes planned obsolescence. PORT products are designed for durability: the majority of our luggage ranges have a lifetime warranty. Our charges (chargers, power supplies, etc.) are designed with lasting quality and offer a warranty of up to 10 years to ensure durability.

2. Eco responsible packaging

Regarding packaging, PORT Europe is committed to reducing its environmental impact by reducing the proportion of plastic in its packaging. We have set up a working group aimed at introducing new solutions for materials such as starch or biodegradable materials for our packaging. Ultimately, we aim for plastic-free packaging. Since 2019, we have already eliminated a large number of plastic materials, in particular from the entire range of safety cables, i.e., 12 items and have chosen recyclable cardboard boxes.

Any new accessory designs are subject to strict demand for plastic-free packaging.

We focus on manufacturing and marketing of products whose packaging is completely recyclable and most of which are made from already recycled materials (cardboard, inner-cardboard and internal wedges). On request and for certain great accounts, we favour deliveries without internal and individual packaging (Bulk type).

PORT Europe is a member of the packaging recycling organization: CITEO under membership number 511306. Citeo is a privately held company specializing in the recycling of household packaging and graphic papers. It was born out of the September 2017 merger of Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio. Citeo’s activity is regulated by state approval for a period of five years. www.citeo.fr

3. ECO bag & case range

In the field of computer luggage, PORT is a forerunner in the ECO range with the launch in 2009 of the first range of bags made from fiber from recycled plastic bottles certified OEKO-TEX. Since then we have launched the YOSEMITE range of ECO luggage, backpacks, bags, sleeves, trolleys and tablet cases made from recycled bottles.

Our ECO luggage range limits the use of products made from petrochemicals and helps to reduce the carbon footprint.

4. Products complying with REACH and ROHS standards

PORT products comply with REACH and ROHS standards which restrict the use of toxic substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.). They represent a guarantee of safety and quality for the user and help to offer products that are environmentally friendly for the user and contribute to offer environmentally friendly products.

5. French Decree No. 2021-254 of March 9, 2021 on the obligation of recycled materials

PORT complies with the new European regulations on public procurement and only offers luggage and accessory products with a minimum of 20% recycled or reused material.

II. SOCIETAL MEASURES AND ACTIONS

1. Carbon footprint

Upon request, Port can provide the certified carbon footprint for each of its products. This certificate is issued by the Eco Transit organization.

2. Reduction of the carbon footprint

In terms of logistics, PORT Europe prefers transportation with reduced carbon dioxide emissions per product: in particular, we favour transport by sea over air freight. We are currently considering the use of piggyback transport to further reduce the carbon footprint.

3. Approach to reducing the energy bill

We have renovated all the premises at our Paris headquarters by implementing solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption, for example by replacing halogen lamps with low-consumption LED lighting. We recycle our waste and have set up an internal collection point for used cells and batteries.

4. Local relocation of the production equipment

We are currently working on the transfer of part of the production to the European and French levels.

In 2022, we carried out projects to relocate specific projects to France: we designed and manufactured 50,000 smartphone shells in France for the La Poste Group as part of the FACTEO project (equipment for letter carriers). This achievement has given rise to many other projects in progress for the manufacture of tablet shells, mouse keyboards and docking stations.

III. GOVERNANCE MEASURES AND ACTIONS

1. BSCI

PORT EUROPE has been participating in the BSCI program for many years, an initiative of the Foreign Trade Association (FTA), a leading European and international trade association that promotes the values of free trade. The BSCI brings together a community of over 1,500 FTA members with a wide range of resources used in their daily professional activities around a common Code of Conduct.

Companies that uphold the BSCI Code of Conduct and integrate it into their corporate culture and business operations (BSCI participants / FTA members and their business partners) are committed to values such as continuous improvement, increased accountability, respect for workers’ rights and, above all, the prohibition of the use of children at work.

2. Social approach to hiring

We have an anti-discrimination code of ethics when hiring and strive to promote diversity within our teams. We have an international and multicultural team enriching for the corporate culture.

3. Equality between men and women

PORT EUROPE places particular emphasis on gender equality in its workforce and encourages the presence of women in the IT sector with a strong male presence.

The company ensures fair treatment in terms of representation and development to strengthen gender balance, especially in terms of career opportunities, wages, and access to training.

4. Disability

PORT is committed to a proactive approach for the benefit of people with disabilities and ensures that over 6% of the workforce is constantly exceeded.

5. Passive or active corruption

PORT Europe condemns any corruption or attempts at active or passive corruption, whether direct or indirect. Active bribery is the act of an employee offering any customer, prospect, administration or partner an advantage, invitation, or gift in violation of applicable law or in excess of the business reasonably acceptable, or it may be seen as an attempt to affect the objectivity of those customers or potential customers.

6. Contribution to the local economic fabric

We actively participate in local, national, and international economic development through membership in the Entreprendre Network. This network helps to develop the economic structure of companies, to promote and support entrepreneurship and to foster the development of the labour market.
